Since we took the day off on Friday we studied today...

Theology: Preach My Gospel, Chapter 6: Obedience and True to the Faith: Obedience
Bible History: 10 Lepers
Friend Article
Biography/American History: 2 chapters from John Adams by Ann Gaines and we read ...If You Lived in Colonial Times by Ann McGovern
Biography: We talked about Martin Luther King, Jr. and read some stuff online about him since I didn't get my ducks in a row and order something from the library.
Literature: 6 poems from A Child's Garden of Verses by Robert Louis Stevenson
Fairy Tales: Three Billy Goats Gruff retold by Glen Rounds
Memorization: Books of the Book of Mormon and Books of the Old and New Testament and the First 10 states in the Union.
Family History: Hyum Campbell biography
Geography: Alaska, Russia, and Iceland
Science: Single cell life forms from The Kingfisher Science Encyclopedia and we read Exploring our Solar System: Mars, The Distant Red Planet by David Jefferis
Math: 2 chapters from The Number Devil: A Mathematical Adventure by Hans Magnus Enzensberger
Game: Apples to Apples, Jr.
Reading: We take turns reading all of the above material everyday.
Science/Pet Care: Jared and Olivia each have a hamster that they are responsible for. They also take turns caring for our dog, cat and sea monkeys.

Olivia
Religion: Read one chapter in The Book of Mormon
Family History: Read a biography of Olive Almedia Ward
Computers/Art: Did a digital scrapbook page for her cousin.
Math: Lesson 85
Game: Played Phase 10 with me.
Spelling: 1 spell drill
Handwriting: Wrote a letter to her grandpa.
Language Arts: Prepositional Phrases
Music: Downloaded and listened to multiple songs including music from A Brand New Year and Mary Poppins.
Writing: Wrote in her journal.
Life Skills: Olivia has learned to braid in several different ways. (She messes with my hair every morning while we do mom school).
Mentoring: She held a handwriting class for Jared today.
Research: Prepared a Family Home Evening Lesson.

Jared
Religion: Read a chapter from his Old Testament Reader
Music: Did a lesson on Music Ace
Science: Did two science experiments regarding solid/solid and liquid/liquid comparisons.
Math: Lesson 76
Logic: Put a 3-D dinosaur puzzle together twice.
Game: He played Cashflow for Kids with me. (This is a money/life skills game).
Spelling: 1 spell drill
Handwriting: He spelled out his name several times in handwriting. He attended Olivia's handwriting class.
Reading: Read 3 chapters in Eragon
PE: 30 min of Wii Sports
Creative Play: 2 hours of Lego's
Biography: Listened to Power Tales Biographies of Thomas Edison and Theodare Roosevelt.

Luke
Religion: Read his Book of Mormon Reader and he read his scripture reading assignment for his primary class.
Music: Had piano lessons.
Math: 2 lesson from Saxon Math 2
Spelling: 1 spell drill
Phonics/Handwriting: 5 pages from Explode the Code
PE: 30 min of Wii sports
Creative Play: 3+ hours of Lego's
Biography: Listened to Power Tales Biographies of Thomas Edison and Theodare Roosevelt.
Caleb
Science: Watched Jared do his science experiments.
Art: Coloring
Math: 2 math work book pages
Spelling: 1 spell drill
Phonics/Handwriting: 2 pages in Explode the Code
Phonics: We played a Happy Phonics game.
PE: 30 min of Wii Sports.
Biography: Listened to Power Tales Biographies of Thomas Edison and Theodare Roosevelt.

Family (in the evening):
Family Home Evening: Manners by Olivia
Science Activity: You Build it Voice Changer (Smart Lab). This is a science kit we received over Christmas but it required Alex's help so we did it for our activity for Family Home Evening. The kids played on it for a long time afterwards. They loved it!




To Show Parent Core/Love of Learner/Scholar here are some things we modeled to the children today...
Deanna: Scriptures, journal, goal Setting, read 1 chapter of A Tale of Two Cities, spell drill and piano. I did my piano solo yesterday for church! Whew! Alex and I read 1 chapter from The Richest Man Who Ever Lived: King Solomon's Secrets.
Alex: Scriptures, Conference Talks, Leadership 101 book by Maxwell, went to work and listened to The Iliad by Homer.
