May 4, 2009 (Monday): Olivia takes a road trip.

Theology: Read 1/2 a chapter from Our Heritage.
Church History: The Joseph Smith Family and the Sacred Grove.

Biography/American History: Daniel Boone
Memorization: 12 apostles
Family History: Finished Memories of a Flying Tiger about my grandfather's WWII experiences.
World History: Read the first chapter in a biography about Captain Cook.
Science: Read several pages about weather, atmosphere, Earth's crust, and geology from Usborne's Book of Knowledge.
Creative Play: Lots of lego's.
Chores

Olivia
Olivia was invited to go on a day trip with grandma to help my sister pack up and move. She had a fun day but was tired!

Jared
Religion: Read a chapter in the Doctrine and Covenants Reader.
American History: Reviewing all the Presidents of the USA. He has previously memorized them.
Music: Did a theory lesson and went to piano lesson.
Math: Did 2 Saxon Math lessons.
Spelling: 1 spell drill
Phonics/Handwriting: 5 pages of Explode the Code and finished book 5.
Free Reading: Read a chapter in a chapter book.
Science Experiment: Did a crystal experiment.
PE: Wii Sports and trampoline jumping.

Luke
Religion: Read a chapter in his Book of Mormon Reader.
Geography: Did a geography lesson.
Math: Did 2 math lessons.
Spelling: 1 spell drill
Phonics/Handwriting: Did 5 pages of Explode the Code.
Handwriting: Practiced cursive handwriting.
Creative Writing: Typed/wrote several paragraphs to his story today on the computer. It amazes me how well he knows the word processor program.
Language Arts: Using a dictionary
Free Reading: Read a chapter in Prince Caspian by CS Lewis.
Reading: Read 2 lessons in McGuffy Second Reader.
PE: Wii Sports, trampoline jumping, bike riding and he played catch with Caleb and I.

Caleb
Math: Telling Time
Spelling: 1 spell drill
Phonics/Handwriting: 4 pages of Explode the Code
Reading: Read a phonics reader and read a McGuffy Primer lesson to me.
PE: Wii Sports, trampoline jumping and he played catch with Luke and I.
Art: Coloring in an American History coloring book.

Family Home Evening:
Song: How Firm a Foundation
Testimonies: Alex, Deanna, Olivia, Jared, Luke and Caleb
Character: Uncommon Courtesy lesson-respecting adults.
Article of Faith: 4th
Proclamation to the World: 3rd paragraph
Lesson: Faith and we used Elders Pearson's talk.
Activity: Played Apples to Apples, Jr.
Treats: Ice Cream
Visiting: Visited two older couples. One lady showed us her new baby goats.

To Show Parent Core/Love of Learner/Scholar here are some things we modeled to the children today...
Deanna: Scriptures, journal, spell drill, word of the day, read several Ensign articles, practiced the piano, and read 1/2 of the book Freckles by Jean Stratman-Porter.
Alex: Scriptures, word of the day, went to work, listened to several conference talks, read in his new church manuals, and he is listening to Robinson Crusoe.
