Geography

For several years I've been meaning to place a world map on our kitchen table and cover it with clear vinyl. I finally made a stop at the fabric store (I don't go there very often you see) and purchased the vinyl. The kids love it! We have already had some great discussions during meals about the world at large, current events and history. It's a great item for the Leadership Education home. What other things like this have you done to your home?

I asked my husband if we could do this and he said, "Can't we have one room in the house that doesn't have homeschool stuff?" I must add, though, that we have placemats of the US, the world, presidents, rocks, the solar system, etc. which we use at every meal. So ha-ha to him! I also have a large globe in the dining room. Our school room has 2 large maps of the US and the world.

We put a new picture up in a frame for artist study every few weeks - it has the name of the artist and title of the painting. It's on a fancy easel in the living room so it sort of looks decorative.

That makes me laugh about your husband! : ) I love the easel idea! Where do you get your prints and would you post a picture of your little easel so I can visualize it? (I'm very visual). Thanks!

That's great. I've been wanting to get a large map for Brock's room. He does have the Placemat with the US on it ... starting small. But he knows where you guys live!
