01/29/09: Dentist

Today was major survival day. The kids and I had to go to 'town,' this time for the dentist. We were there for 3 hours-that was just cleanings and check-ups. Then we had pack meeting tonight which I have to help with so we were there early and stayed late with set up and clean up.

Mom School
Health: Dentist Appointments for Everyone! They were given the low down about dental care, tarter, flossing, etc....
4-H: We talked to the 4-H extension office for a while about the different classes and projects that are being offered this year. Looks like we'll be doing a clover bud project, a horse project, a government project, some Lego projects and a science project.

Olivia
Religion: 1 chapter in The Book of Mormon.
Music: Played the piano.
Math: Lesson 91
Spelling: 1 spell drill
Language Arts: Prepositions
Writing: Calligraphy
Vocabulary: Peterson's Word of the Day- INSOLVENT
Free Reading: 30 min of Jane Eyre
Life Skills: Worked at Alex's office for 2 hours doing various secretary items.
Business: She sold a horse and bought a new one with her dad.

Jared
Religion: 1 chapter from The Old Testament Reader.
Math: Lesson 81 redo
Spelling: 1 spell drill
Handwriting: Cursive writing lesson.
Free Reading: Over 1 hour of Eragon.

Luke
Music: Practiced his piano lesson.
Math: 1 Saxon Math 2 Lesson
Spelling: 1 spelling drill
Phonics/Handwriting: 5 pages of Explode of Code
Free Reading: Over 1 hour of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.
PE: 30 min of Wii sports.

Caleb
Math: 1 math page
Spelling: 1 spell drill
Phonics/Handwriting: 1 Explode the Code page
Reading: Read 15 min in The McGuffy Reader to me.
PE: 30 min of Wii Sports

Family (in the evening):
Pack meeting for scouts. Luke earned his Bobcat and a Skit segment. Jared earned several segments and some sports pins and belt loops.

To Show Parent Core/Love of Learner/Scholar here are some things we modeled to the children today...
Deanna: Scriptures, word of the day, completed Individual Learning Plans for each child for the state. my visiting teacher came over and read for two hours.
Alex: Scriptures, word of the day, went to work, and listened to something coming and going?
