Dad School
I was gone this AM so I left my husband to do the book work and this writing assignment. He's such a good dad!
Writing: The kids watched a movie on the prophet Joseph Smith and then they had to write several sentences about what they saw. They had to redo them until punctuation, handwriting and spelling were correct. Olivia had to write 5 sentences and on down to Caleb who wrote 2 sentences.

Mom School

Bible: Passover from The Old Testament Reader.
Family Scripture Study: 2 Thessalonians 2
Weekly Scripture Memorization: Mosiah 4:9
Friend Article
Idaho History: Read about the Kootenai Indians in Idaho from A Rendezvous with Idaho History.
Literature: We read two chapters from The Silver Chair by CS Lewis.
Fantasy Read-aloud: Read one chapter from Leven Thumps and The Whispered Secret. We are ditching this book for now. I'm not interested in it. I don't want to waste anymore time on it. The kids can read it on their own if they like. I want time to read Shakespeare and Greek classics.
Science: Read a couple of pages from See Inside Science by Alex Frith and Colin King. We really like it. We talked about the beginning of the universe, heavenly bodies, life as we know it and the smallest things.
World History: We read about the Minoan civilization from The Usborne Encyclopedia of Ancient Greece. This was another big hit.
PE: Worked on the land
Chores: house chores, animal care, harvesting

Olivia
Religion: Read a chapter in Genesis
Geography: Did an Evan-Moor lesson.
Math: Did a Saxon 7/6 lesson.
Language Arts: Did a Daily Grams lesson and did an
Editor in Chief lesson.
Creative Writing: Did her scholar writing assignment.
Science: Did a science lesson from her science textbook.
Music: Practiced her piano lesson and had a piano lesson
Reading: Read for an hour in Work in the Glory #5.

Jared
Religion: Read in the Book of Mormon. Today he read with Alex and they had a great discussion. Alex wants to start studying with him one time a week.
Music: Practiced his piano lesson and had a piano lesson.
Geography: Did an Evan-Moor lesson.
Math: Did a Saxon 6/5 lesson and a math drill sheet.
Spelling: 1 spell drill
Phonics/Handwriting: 5 pages of Explode the Code
Creative Writing: Did a lesson in Let's Write.
Grammar: Did a Daily Grams lesson.
Read: Read for over 30 min in Peter and the Starcatchers.

Luke
Religion: Read in the Book of Mormon
Geography: Did an Evan-Moor lesson.
Math: Did a Saxon 3 lesson.
Phonics/Handwriting: 5
pages of Explode the Code
Grammar: Did a
Daily Grams lesson.
Spelling: Did a spell drill.
Art: Decorated a binder to put his papers in.

Caleb
Religion: Read a verse in the Book of Mormon to me.
Reading: Read a story to me. He also took a timed reading test over the phone with our state teacher contact.
Geography: Did a lesson from Evan-Moor.
Math: Did one Saxon Math 2 lesson.
Spelling: 1 spell drill
Phonics/Handwriting: 4 pages of Explode the Code- He finished book 4 he was very excited!
Language Arts: Read a short story to me. Practiced his sight words by using a highlighter and finding them in The Friend. He learned about contractions today.
Art: Decorated a binder to put his papers in.
Life Skills: Sorted tomatoes with me.

Character: Telephone answering skills from Uncommon Courtesy. Olivia made the boys role play their phone skills.
Lesson: We rewatched Elder Scott's talk and had a great discussion on personal revelation.
Treats: Carmel popcorn
Activity: Watched a movie together.

To Show Parent Core/Love of Learner/Scholar here are some things we modeled to the children today...
Deanna: Scriptures, journal, word of the day, went to town shopping with my mom, and worked on activity day girls.
Alex: Scriptures, word of the day, stayed home with the kids for half the day, he listening to The Fountainhead and he went to work.
